Membership eligibility in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW) is generally based on the service medal(s) one is awarded during her/his active duty service.  Also eligible are those who received combat pay (e.g., hostile fire pay, immanent danger pay, etc.) at least once, the Combat Action Ribbon/Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Combat Medic Badge, or Nuclear Submarine Deterrent Patrol Badge. Please see the VFW National Headquarters web site for the current eligibility requirements. 

There are two categories of membership in the VFW – annual and life.  Annual membership dues are determined by each local post. Post 3820’s current annual dues are $31.50 per year. Life dues are determined by National Headquarters and are dependent upon the applicant’s age at the time of submission.
